The “Jump Up Internet Rescue School” could be the cure you’ve been looking for, as the New York Times recently reported. I think spending 17 hours per day on the Internet is O.K. too…. just as long as there’s a NOSO in there for at least 15 minutes or so.

In recent news, ABC News’ Amanda Congdon gives NOSO a spin and over on TechCrunch it’s the NOSO lovers versus haters. We chatted with RU Sirius, who opened the interview by posing this question: “Does all this so-called social networking crap make you wish people would stop being so fucking friendly?” We really like this article in the McGill Daily, because they found a supercute NOSOer casually draped across a picnic table. Finally, NOSO gets some international coverage when Kurt Bigenho chats with Nora Young on CBC’s Spark.

Come out and (NOt) meet NOSO creators Christina Ray, Kurt Bigenho and Gilbert Guerrero at the Conflux Festival in Brooklyn, September 13 - 16. Christina will give opening remarks at 10:30am on Thursday, September 13th, Kurt’s Experiential Modifiers project takes place Thursday the 13th, 6 - 8pm, and Gilbert…well he’s likely to be found in a state of NOSO at festival HQ when he’s not moblogging and fixing the website.

Gilbert Guerrero will be giving a presentation today at the de Young Museum in San Francisco about the NOSO project. Southern Exposure is hosting a symposium for all of the offsite projects. The event is free and goes from 10am-5pm. If you’re online, why not schedule a NOSO today at the newest NOSO Location—the de Young Museum!

We at NOSO headquarters have been flooded with requests to start NOSOs in other cities around the world, including Paris, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Savannah, Ann Arbor, Copenhagen (in no particular order…) Indeed, why should San Francisco have all the NON-fun? Do you want a NOSO in your home town? Let us know. Now we’re not making any promises…but you never know…(bribes accepted)

Here’s the first peek at the NOSO headquarters at Southern Exposure. Tag photos of your NOSOs with “nosoproject” and get them up on Flickr. Oh wait — no photos allowed during NOSOs.

If you’re in San Francisco, come down to Southern Exposure Gallery tonight for the opening (or is it a non-opening?) of our little poke-fun-at-the-current-state-of-the-web project, NOSO. We’ve created a relaxing, comforting NOSO Zone on-site, where the rules are few: no networking, no texting, no cellphone use, no laptop use, no downloading, no blogging, no vlogging…etc. Come meet the team responsible for all this madness, grab a beer, and check-in (in order to check-out)! Artist talk at 6:30pm, reception from 7-9pm.

As listed on Flavorpill: “If you’ve thought about deleting your MySpace profile but were too afraid to go through with it, then NOSO was designed for you.” Read on…
